Portland, OR

APPLY to kbeach @ hittandhiller.com

Hitt Hiller Monfils Williams LLP is looking for a team player who likes to be busy to add to our team. We are dedicated to providing our clients with aggressive representation based on the finest legal knowledge and expertise in the insurance defense arena. We are looking to add a full-time litigation paralegal who is a dynamic, self-motivated individual with excellent communication skills (including written communication), has strong attention to detail, is organized, and has the ability and motivation to work independently. Remote work flexibility will be considered (DOE).

At HHMW, we offer the following:

  • Competitive pay commensurate with experience

  • Medical, dental, and vision for all employees

  • 3-weeks paid time off that starts accruing immediately

  • VERY generous 401(k) employer contribution after a short waiting period

  • Health savings account

  • 8 predetermined paid Holidays off per year

  • Flexibility with hours worked

  • A fun, family atmosphere and a healthy work-life balance

  • Stability, flexibility and the opportunity to work with a great, hard-working team

  • A new deck with tables, chairs, and umbrellas to enjoy the beautiful view of the Willamette River

  • Meaningful, substantive work on interesting cases—you will be responsible for the day-to-day management of litigated cases.

We are a family-oriented team who enjoys spontaneous firm-sponsored lunches, a flexible schedule (M-F), casual Fridays, after-hour events (optional but always super fun), and celebrations any chance we get, including Halloween and Holiday festivities. The firm has a kitchen that is stocked with soda, coffee, candy, snacks, and sometimes lunches for those days you forget your lunch at home or don’t have time to go to one of the many food carts and restaurants close by. We have ample parking within the immediate vicinity of our office and are just 1.5 blocks from a Max stop and 3 blocks from the bus mall.

As a litigation paralegal at HHMW, your responsibilities will include the management of cases through the life of the case for 5-6 attorneys. This includes reviewing, organizing, analyzing, and evaluating claim file materials, medical records, and bills, accident scene materials, discovery, and then creating chronologies and summaries. You will be responsible for all aspects of discovery with your cases, including preparing discovery requests, identifying missing discovery, issuing subpoenas, and collecting client records. You will have extensive interaction with clients.

You will also be responsible for preparing cases for depositions, mediations, arbitrations, and trials, which will include extensive contact with clients, witnesses, experts, attorneys, and other professionals both on the phone and via email. You must be willing to talk with individuals on the phone.

We are looking for someone with experience working with medical records, is tech savvy, and has experience with Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat Pro, and Clio. Each attorney has a slightly different way of working, so it’s important that each team member adapts to the systems of the firm and each attorney they work with. In addition, you will be required to understand and follow client-specific billing guidelines and ensure all billable work is being performed within those guidelines and captured appropriately.

Experience in Oregon, Washington and Federal Courts is a bonus but is not required. We are looking for someone who likes to work hard and be rewarded for the hard work.

If this sounds like a place you would like to work, we are accepting resumes in confidence and would love to follow up to see if you would be a good fit. Due to the high volume of responses, we will only contact qualified candidates for interviews. No phone calls, please.
